Care Instructions

Don't be gross.

The following instructions will guide you through cleaning and maintaining your fursuit parts for longevity (and to avoid weird smells).

Hit us up on the contact page or DM us on Instagram if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT!

When cleaning your items AVOID HEAT. NO HEAT! Always use COLD water and never use a hair blow dryer to dry your items – air dry with fans ONLY. Heat will damage your fur beyond fixing. DO NOT USE HEAT.

Quick Cleaning/Regular Upkeep

I recommend a quick clean after any short meetups or quick photoshoots. It’s great for spot cleaning prior to a deep clean as well.

  • Brush your items any time before wearing to fluff and soften the fur
  • Use pet wipes to thoroughly wipe down all of your items, inside and out—avoiding the eyes on a head—then brush and allow everything to dry.
    • Any pet wipes will do. They can be purchased anywhere you can find pet stuff (including Amazon)
  • Feel free to use suit sprays or Febreze to add extra fragrance

Deep Cleaning

I recommend a deep clean after every con or after a long day of suiting. It will help kill any bacteria build up and keep your items smelling fresh!

Body Suit
  1. Remove the padding from your suit. Unzip and remove the feet if they’re attached.
  2. Give your suit a preliminary brush
  3. Turn your suit inside out and zip it up; if the tail is attached, it will be zipped inside. If the tail can be separated, remove the tail and follow the care instructions for Tails, Paws, and Arm Sleeves.
  4. Wash all of your items together in the washing machine set to DELICATE using only COLD WATER. You can run an extra spin cycle on them to get rid of excess water and reduce the drying time. Any fabric safe detergent will work.
  5. I don’t recommend washing them with other clothing to avoid bunching.
  6. Once done, turn the items right-side out and brush the fur
  7. Air dry. DO NOT use a hanger to dry, a hanger can cause the suit to stretch. I recommend laying your suit across a drying rack or the tops of 2-3 chairs – just make sure you watch for anything that could kink the fur and brush/flip the items regularly until dry. You can use a fan to speed up the process. I recommend hanging them over tile/concrete (basically not carpet) because the items may drip while drying
  8. Make sure the items are COMPLETELY DRY before storing or wearing

Tail, Paws, Arm Sleeves

  1. Give all of your items a preliminary brush
  2. Turn your Arm Sleeves and Paws inside out (as best as possible depending on the paw type)
  3. Wash all of your items together in the washing machine set to DELICATE using only COLD WATER. I don’t recommend washing them with other clothing to avoid bunching. Any fabric safe detergent will work.Tip: You can run an extra spin cycle to get rid of excess moisture and reduce the drying time.
  4. Once done, turn the items right-side in and brush the fur, shaking out extra water
  5. Hang the Arm Sleeves to dry. You can use a shower rod, chair, hanger, etc. Tails and Paws should be dried flat on a towel, just make sure you brush/flip the items regularly to avoid the fabric kinking or flattening until dry. You can use a fan to speed up the process. I recommend hanging them over tile/concrete (not carpet) because the items may drip while drying.
  6. Make sure the items are COMPLETELY DRY before storing or wearing.

Head/Feet Paws

  1. Give all your items a preliminary brush
  2. Make sure your tub is clean— don’t wash your items in a dirty tub
  3. Fill the bathtub about a quarter of the way full with cold water — DO NOT USE HOT WATER.
  4. Add ~1/2 cup of fabric safe detergent to the water as the tub is filling so it’s evenly mixed.
  5. Start with washing the head by submerging it in the water— using your hands to gently scrub the material. Focus on the inside of the head because that’s where a lot of bacteria can build up. Avoid the eyes best you can, the paint is waterproof so it won’t wash away, but it’s possible to squish the eyes or damage them if you don’t wash the head with care.
  6. Once it’s nice and scrubbed, squeeze out as much soapy water as possible and set it aside on a towel
  7. Next, move to the feet paws. If they’re outdoor paws, wipe down the bottoms with a wet towel to remove as much excess dirt before submerging them in the water. Use your hands to gently scrub the material.
  8. Once clean, drain the soapy water and rinse the tub. Put your items back in the empty tub.
  9. Use a Tupperware or small bucket to pour clean water over your items and rinse out the soap completely — using your hands to gently work out any soapy spots.
  10. Gently squeeze as much water out as possible, making sure there’s no soap coming out. If the water runoff is still soapy, repeat Step 7.
  11. Brush the fur. Lay the head to dry with the inside exposed, ideally with a fan point inside of it. If you have a fan and can point upward, you can set the head on that. The feet can be propped against a wall, with the toes point up, and set on a towel with a fan pointed inside of them as best as possible.Tip: Brush the fur regularly while it dries to avoid flattening the fur as it dries.
  12. Make sure the items are COMPLETELY DRY before storing or wearing

Storing

When not in use, store your items in a dry, room temperature spot like a closet or plastic tote. Avoid hot attics, humid basements, or direct sunlight.
